About Devante
Black American Interdisciplinary Artist and Educator
I am an interdisciplinary artist and educator living and working in Baltimore, MD. Currently, I teach kindergarten for Baltimore City Public Schools. As an artist, I work with whatever I can to create layered artworks inspired by daily life and historical experiences of the black diaspora. My work is not targeted to one specific avenue or timeframe but expresses struggle, beauty, historical nuance, abstraction, and escapism.
When I am not making art, I am diligently working on my pedagogy as an educator and creating artistic spaces for students.
I love collaborating with other artists and educators alike, and I am always open to new projects.
If you are a non-profit that benefits African American identity, children's literacy, or African American health, please reach out for some in-kind artwork to support your cause.
